Chikmagalur has its own small railway station (CMGR) on the Birur–Chikmagalur line, but only a few passenger trains stop here. The major railhead is Kadur Junction, about 40 km away, on the Bengaluru–Mangaluru route. From Kadur, taxis and buses are readily available.

The most convenient railway station, handling trains from Bengaluru, Mangaluru, and other parts of Karnataka.

From Mysuru

Via NH275 and NH173, through Hunsur and Sakleshpur, this route is less crowded but longer.

•Direct buses are limited; you may need to change at Hassan or Sakleshpur.
•Self-drive is recommended for flexibility, especially if you plan to visit coffee estates en route.
