Amidst this lush Arabica coffee-growing landscape, visitors can explore significant temples and shrines, including the Mullappa Swamy temple atop Mullayanagiri, Karnataka’s highest peak, and the Dattatreya Peetha / Guru Dattatreya Baba Budan Swamy Dargah on Baba Budangiri, a shrine uniquely revered by both Hindus and Muslims. Beyond these sacred sites, the region offers natural attractions like Hebbe Falls and the former royal retreat of Kemmangundi, making it a holistic destination for spiritual and scenic exploration.

Baba Budangiri, rising to 1,895 meters in the Baba Budan range of the Western Ghats, is a unique pilgrimage site where Hindu and Muslim traditions converge. The Dattatreya Peetha, also known as the Baba Budan Dargah, honors the 17th-century Sufi saint Baba Budan, who is credited with smuggling seven coffee beans from Yemen and planting them on these slopes, marking the beginning of Indian coffee cultivation. The shrine complex includes a cave and a dargah, attracting devotees who offer chadar and flowers, while Hindus revere the site as a manifestation of Dattatreya. The surrounding misty hills, dotted with coffee estates and sacred caves, create an atmosphere of deep spiritual tranquility.
