Overview

Jog Falls, formed by the Sharavathi River plunging about 253 meters (830 feet), is one of India's highest plunge waterfalls and is commonly cited as the second-highest after Nohkalikai Falls in Meghalaya. The falls consist of four distinct cascades—Raja, Roarer, Rocket, and Rani—and straddle the border of Shivamogga and Uttara Kannada districts near Sagara. Its flow is heavily regulated by the Linganamakki Dam upstream, so the falls are most spectacular during and right after the monsoon, while summer often sees a reduced trickle.
