Khammam Fort is a hill fort with a history of over a thousand years. History says that it was built during the Kakatiya period. This place, mentioned as "Khammamettu" in ancient inscriptions, is a historical center that combines spirituality, strategic importance, and architectural splendor. The foundation stone for the construction of this fort was laid in 950 CE. Three farmers from the village of Velugumatla—Ranga Reddy, Laxma Reddy, and Velma Reddy—discovered a treasure while working in the fields and, with the permission of the Kakatiya lords, used the money to build the fort.

Lakaram lake is a lake in the city of Khammam. Located nearly 4 kilometres (2.5 mi) from a bus station, it is one of the main tourist attractions of the city. It has been developed recently under the auspices of Khammam MLA Sri Puvvada Ajay Kumar by the State government of Telangana under Mission Kakatiya. Until 15 years ago it was surrounded by trees, but today has an adjoined park named Lakaram Lake View. The lake is popular for boating.

This temple of the "Narasimha Swami" deity is quite famous and also the reason for the name of "Khammam". On a hill top, it offers nice views especially in the evenings. The hill top is accessible by car.
