The town pairs naturally with the pilgrimage hub of Gokarna (about 90 km north), sharing the Atmalinga legend, and can also be combined with the beaches of Kumta or the waterfalls of Jog Falls for a longer coastal itinerary. Most travelers arrive by train or bus, using Murudeshwar as a serene stop between Goa and Karnataka's temple towns.
