Vaikom Sree Mahadeva Temple
The Vaikom Sree Mahadeva Temple is a temple dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva in Vaikom, Kottayam, Kerala, India. The temple, along with the Ettumanoor Shiva Temple and the Kaduthuruthy Shiva Temple is considered a powerful place of Shiva. The belief is that if a devotee worships all the three temples before the Ucha puja, all his/her wishes are fulfilled. It is one of the oldest temples in Kerala and is famous for its Vaikom Ashtami festival. The temple is one of the few temples which is held in reverence by both Shaivas, the adherents of Shiva and Vaishnavas, the adherents of Vishnu.
St. Thomas Church
St. Thomas Syro-Malabar Catholic Church, Kokkamangalam, popularly known as Kokkamangalam Church, which holds a midway position among the seven churches founded by St. Thomas, is in the Syro-Malabar Catholic Archdiocese of Ernakulam-Angamaly, in the South Indian state of Kerala. St. Thomas sailed to Kokkamangalam where he preached the gospel for about a year. 1600 people converted to Christianity through him according to the narration in "Rampan Pattu", an ancient form of Christian folk-song prevalent in Kerala. He formed a Christian community at Kokkamangalam and enshrined a Cross for the faithful.
Pundareekapuram Temple
Pundareekapuram Temple is a small Hindu temple atop a little rise called Midayikunnam near Thalayolaparambu in Kottayam. A tiled and saddle roofed square "Chuttambalam" encloses a square sanctum sanctorum. Appended to the square enclosure is a small ‘balikkalpura’. The (main deity) idol is the image of Vishnu sitting astride his celestial vehicle Garuda together with Bhoodevi.
Velorvattom Sri Mahadeva Temple
Velorvattom Sri Mahadeva Temple is a Hindu temple located in Cherthala in Alleppey district in the Indian state of Kerala. Believed to be constructed in the 7th century by Azhvanchery Thamprakkal. According to the legend, Kerala is the land gifted by Lord Parasurama, the sixth incarnation of Lord Maha Vishnu. The installation of the idol of the Lord Shiva was performed by sage Parasurama himself. The Velorvattom Sri Mahadeva Temple is one of the few temples of the state where two Nalambalam and two Flagmast are dedicated.
