Chennai to Chidambaram: Nataraja
Our driver picks you up from your hotel or home in Chennai in the morning. Drive from Chennai to Chidambaram (about 232 km, 4 hrs 30 min). Check in at your hotel in Chidambaram. Drive down the East Coast Road to Chidambaram. In the Thillai Nataraja temple, the space lingam of the Pancha Bhuta temples, have darshan of Nataraja in the golden Chit Sabha and of the Chidambara Rahasyam behind its curtain; inside the same walls, see Lord Govindaraja reclining, a Divya Desam of Vishnu. Stay for the night ardhajama puja, when the sandals of the Lord are carried to the shrine of the goddess. Overnight stay in Chidambaram.

After the morning puja, visit the Thillai Kali Amman temple, then drive south to Vaitheeswaran Koil, where Shiva is worshipped as the divine healer and the shrine of Angaraka (Mars) is one of the Navagraha temples; pilgrims also consult the palm-leaf nadi astrologers in the town. Then the drive back to Chennai. Drive from Chidambaram to Vaitheeswaran Koil (about 28 km, 30 min) and from Vaitheeswaran Koil to Chennai (about 262 km, 5 hrs 15 min), and drop at your hotel, home or the railway station in Chennai.
