Day 1

Indore to Chikhaldara

Our driver picks you up from your hotel or home in Indore in the morning. Drive from Indore to Chikhaldara (about 251 km, 5 hrs). Check in at your hotel in Chikhaldara. The last stretch climbs through the Melghat forest. After lunch, visit the viewpoints on the rim of the plateau, Bhimkund and Panchbol Point, and end the day at Sunset Point. The town is small and quiet, so evenings are for the views and a walk. Overnight stay in Chikhaldara.

Day 2

Gavilgad Fort and back to Indore

After breakfast, visit Gavilgad Fort, the old hill fort of the Berar sultans, and Hurricane Point. On the way down, stop at the Semadoh nature centre in Melghat if you want a short forest walk. Drive from Chikhaldara to Indore (about 251 km, 5 hrs), and drop at your hotel, home or the railway station in Indore. The tour ends here.

Chikhaldara is the only hill station of Vidarbha, at about 1,100 m in the Satpura range, on the edge of the Melghat Tiger Reserve. It is at its greenest in the monsoon, when the valleys fill with mist and waterfalls.
