Belur and Halebidu
Our driver picks you up from your hotel or home in Bengaluru in the morning. Drive from Bengaluru to Belur (about 247 km, 5 hrs), from Belur to Halebidu (about 21 km, 30 min) and from Halebidu to Chikmagalur (about 35 km, 45 min). Check in at your hotel in Chikmagalur. Drive west to Belur and spend time at the Chennakeshava temple, built in 1117 by the Hoysala king Vishnuvardhana, with its star-shaped plan and the bracket figures of dancers on the pillars. Continue to Halebidu, the old Hoysala capital, to the twin Hoysaleswara temple, whose walls carry friezes of elephants, lions, horsemen and the epics. Reach Chikmagalur by evening. Overnight stay in Chikmagalur.

Mullayanagiri and the coffee hills
Drive up early to Mullayanagiri, the highest peak in Karnataka at about 1,930 m, for the view over the Baba Budan range, where the first coffee in India is said to have been planted in the 17th century. Walk through a coffee estate before the drive back. Drive from Chikmagalur to Bengaluru (about 251 km, 5 hrs), and drop at your hotel, home or the railway station in Bengaluru. The tour ends here.
