Day 1

Chennai to Dandeli

Reach Hubballi by train from Chennai, where our driver meets you. Drive from Hubballi to Dandeli (about 71 km, 1 hr 30 min). Check in at your hotel in Dandeli. Check in at a riverside stay and spend the afternoon on the Kali river: kayaking, a coracle ride and a natural jacuzzi in the rapids are the usual activities (paid on the spot). Visit the Supa dam viewpoint or the Syntheri Rocks, a 300-foot granite monolith with the river running through it. Evenings are quiet, with a bonfire at most camps. Overnight stay in Dandeli.

Day 2

Rafting and back to Chennai

Start at about 8 am for white-water rafting at Ganeshgudi, a 9 km run with grade 2 and 3 rapids (life jackets and guides provided; it depends on the dam release and season). Alternatively, take an early jungle safari in the Kali Tiger Reserve to look for hornbills, gaur and the black panther. Leave for home after lunch. Drive from Dandeli to Hubballi (about 72 km, 1 hr 30 min). Board the train from Hubballi back to Chennai (about 713 km), and the tour ends.
