Day 1

Shimoga to Dandeli

Our driver picks you up from your hotel or home in Shimoga in the morning. Drive from Shivamogga to Dandeli (about 244 km, 5 hrs). Check in at your hotel in Dandeli. Check in at a riverside stay and spend the afternoon on the Kali river: kayaking, a coracle ride and a natural jacuzzi in the rapids are the usual activities (paid on the spot). Visit the Supa dam viewpoint or the Syntheri Rocks, a 300-foot granite monolith with the river running through it. Evenings are quiet, with a bonfire at most camps. Overnight stay in Dandeli.

Day 2

Rafting and back to Shimoga

Start at about 8 am for white-water rafting at Ganeshgudi, a 9 km run with grade 2 and 3 rapids (life jackets and guides provided; it depends on the dam release and season). Alternatively, take an early jungle safari in the Kali Tiger Reserve to look for hornbills, gaur and the black panther. Leave for home after lunch. Drive from Dandeli to Shivamogga (about 244 km, 5 hrs), and drop at your hotel, home or the railway station in Shimoga. The tour ends here.
