Day 1

Srirangam, the first Divya Desam

Our driver picks you up from your hotel or home in Trichy in the morning. Drive from Trichy to Srirangam (about 10 km, 15 min) and from Srirangam to Trichy (about 10 km, 15 min). Check in at your hotel in Trichy. Spend the morning at Srirangam, first of the 108 Divya Desams, where Ranganatha reclines on Adisesha within seven enclosing walls. In the afternoon, visit Uraiyur, the birthplace of Thiruppanalvar, and Thiruvellarai, an older temple on a white rock. Overnight stay in Trichy.

Day 2

Sarangapani, Oppiliappan and Nachiyar Koil

Today's travel: from Trichy to Kumbakonam (about 84 km, 1 hr 45 min). Drive to Kumbakonam. Have darshan at the Sarangapani temple, whose sanctum is shaped like a chariot, and at Oppiliappan Koil, where the offerings are made without salt. In the evening, visit Nachiyar Koil (Thirunaraiyur), known for its stone Garuda that is carried out in procession. Overnight stay in Kumbakonam.

Day 3

Thirukannapuram and Nagapattinam

Drive east to Thirukannapuram for the Sowriraja Perumal temple, one of the Pancha Krishna Kshetrams, and to Thirukannamangai. Continue to Nagapattinam for the Soundararaja Perumal temple, then return to Kumbakonam. Overnight stay in Kumbakonam.

Day 4

Sirkazhi, Thiruvali and Thiruindalur

Today's travel: from Kumbakonam to Sirkazhi (about 56 km, 1 hr) and from Sirkazhi to Kumbakonam (about 56 km, 1 hr). Visit Sirkazhi's Thadalan temple of Trivikrama, then Thiruvali–Thirunagari, the twin temples linked to Thirumangai Alvar, the poet-saint born here. On the way back, have darshan at Thiruindalur, the Parimala Ranganatha temple in Mayiladuthurai. Overnight stay in Kumbakonam.
