One of the twelve Jyotirlingas and a key stop on the Chota Char Dham and Panch Kedar circuits, this ancient Shiva temple stands at 3,583m in the Garhwal Himalayas. The temple remarkably survived the 2013 Uttarakhand floods, with a large boulder behind it credited with diverting the floodwater.

Dedicated to Bhairav, the guardian deity of Kedarnath, this small stone shrine sits on a hillock about 500m from the main temple. The temple offers panoramic views of the Kedarnath valley and the Mandakini river.
