Reach Mumbai by train from Vadodara, where our driver meets you. Drive from Mumbai to Lonavala (about 82 km, 1 hr 30 min). Check in at your hotel in Lonavala. Drive up the Bhor ghat to Lonavala. See the views from Tiger's Leap (Tiger Point), where the cliff drops straight into the valley, Lion's Point and the Duke's Nose rock above Khandala; in the monsoon, the whole ghat is full of waterfalls and the Bhushi dam overflows down its steps. Pick up chikki and fudge in the market in the evening. Overnight stay in Lonavala.

Karla caves, Bhaja and Lohagad
Climb to the Karla caves, where a Buddhist chaitya hall cut into the rock over 2,000 years ago has a great wooden-ribbed vault and carved couples at the entrance; the Ekvira temple stands beside it. See the older Bhaja caves across the valley, and walk up to Lohagad fort if you have the legs for it, then the drive back. Drive from Lonavala to Karla (about 9 km, 15 min) and from Karla to Mumbai (about 92 km, 1 hr 45 min). Board the train from Mumbai back to Vadodara (about 404 km), and the tour ends.
