Ahilyabai's Maheshwar
Our driver picks you up from your hotel or home in Indore in the morning. Drive from Indore to Maheshwar (about 83 km, 1 hr 45 min). Check in at your hotel in Maheshwar. Drive from Indore to Maheshwar, identified with Mahishmati of the epics. Rani Ahilyabai Holkar, who ruled from 1767 to 1795, built temples and ghats from Kashi to Somnath, and lived simply here. See her palace (Rajwada) with her seat and a statue of her, the Ahileshwar temple and the cenotaphs on the ghats. In the afternoon, watch the weavers of the Rehwa Society, started by the Holkar family in 1979 to revive the Maheshwari sari, and take a boat at sunset. Overnight stay in Maheshwar.

Ghats at dawn and Mandleshwar
Walk the ghats at dawn, when pilgrims bathe and the light falls on the temples, and see the Sahastradhara rapids. On the way back to Indore, stop at Mandleshwar, a riverside town of old temples and ghats. Drive from Maheshwar to Mandleshwar (about 8 km, 15 min) and from Mandleshwar to Indore (about 74 km, 1 hr 30 min), and drop at your hotel, home or the railway station in Indore. The tour ends here.
