Mawlynnong in the East Khasi Hills is known as one of the cleanest villages in Asia, with bamboo dustbins, flower-lined paths and a community that keeps it spotless. Walk down to the living root bridge at nearby Riwai, made by training the roots of rubber fig trees across a stream, and climb the Sky View, a bamboo tower with a view over the plains of Bangladesh. Stay the night in a village homestay. Overnight stay in Mawlynnong.

Dawki and back
Drive down to Dawki on the Bangladesh border, where the Umngot runs so clear in winter that the boats seem to float in the air. Take a boat ride on the river, then head back. Drive from Mawlynnong to Dawki (about 29 km, 30 min) and from Dawki to Guwahati (about 175 km, 3 hrs 30 min), and drop at your hotel, home or the railway station in Guwahati. The tour ends here.
