Day 1

Guwahati to Shillong

Our driver picks you up from your hotel or home in Guwahati in the morning. Drive from Guwahati to Shillong (about 99 km, 2 hrs). Check in at your hotel in Shillong. Stop at Umiam Lake on the way up. Check in at Shillong and walk around Police Bazaar in the evening. Overnight stay in Shillong.

Day 2

Shillong to Sohra

Today's travel: from Shillong to Sohra (Cherrapunji) (about 53 km, 1 hr). Drive to Sohra (Cherrapunji), stopping at Elephant Falls. See Nohkalikai, one of the tallest plunge falls in India, the Mawsmai caves and the Seven Sisters falls. Overnight stay in Sohra (Cherrapunji).

Day 3

Double-decker root bridge

After breakfast, trek down about 3,500 steps from Tyrna to the double-decker living root bridge at Nongriat and climb back up. Start early with water and good shoes; the walk takes most of the day. Swim in the blue pools near the bridge before the climb back. Overnight stay in Sohra (Cherrapunji).

Day 4

Mawlynnong and Dawki

Today's travel: from Sohra (Cherrapunji) to Mawlynnong (about 75 km, 1 hr 30 min), from Mawlynnong to Dawki (about 29 km, 30 min) and from Dawki to Shillong (about 81 km, 1 hr 30 min). Visit Mawlynnong, called the cleanest village in Asia, and its single living root bridge, then go boating on the clear Umngot river at Dawki on the Bangladesh border. Return to Shillong. Overnight stay in Shillong.

Day 5

Shillong to Guwahati

Visit Ward's Lake and the Don Bosco Museum of North East cultures before driving down. Drive from Shillong to Guwahati (about 99 km, 2 hrs), and drop at your hotel, home or the railway station in Guwahati. The tour ends here.
