Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1

Delhi to Shimla

Our driver picks you up from your hotel or home in Delhi in the morning. Drive from Delhi to Shimla (about 382 km, 7 hrs 30 min). Check in at your hotel in Shimla. Drive up from the plains past Kalka and Solan to Shimla, arriving in the afternoon. Walk on the Ridge and the Mall, past Christ Church, in the evening. Overnight stay in Shimla.

Day 2

Kufri and on to Narkanda

Today's travel: from Shimla to Kufri (about 15 km, 15 min) and from Kufri to Narkanda (about 46 km, 1 hr 15 min). Drive up to Kufri for the snow and the view from the Himalayan Nature Park, then on past Theog to Narkanda. In the afternoon try skiing or snow play on the Narkanda slopes, with an instructor if you are a beginner. Overnight stay in Narkanda.

Day 3

Hatu Peak and the Thanedar orchards

Walk or drive (as far as the snow allows) up through the fir forest to Hatu Peak, about 3,400 m, with the small Hatu Mata temple and a view of the snow peaks. In the afternoon drive down to Thanedar and Kotgarh, where Samuel Stokes planted the first American apple trees in 1916. Overnight stay in Narkanda.

Day 4

Narkanda to Delhi

An early start for the long drive back down through Shimla and Kalka to the plains, with a lunch stop on the way. Drive from Narkanda to Delhi (about 421 km, 8 hrs 30 min), and drop at your hotel, home or the railway station in Delhi. The tour ends here.

Narkanda is a small apple-growing town at about 2,700 m on the Hindustan–Tibet road beyond Shimla, with ski slopes, the forest walk to Hatu Peak and a wide view of the snow peaks.

Snowfall Tour: Late Dec 2026 – Feb 2027 (snowfall season)

From late December to February Narkanda gets regular snowfall, and its slopes are used for skiing and snow play. The deodar and fir forests around Hatu Peak turn white, Shimla and Kufri on the way are often snowy too, and the clear days between snowfalls show the whole range of the greater Himalaya.
