Drive up the highway to Kelva and settle into a cottage or homestay among the casuarinas. Spend the afternoon on the long, empty beach and walk out at low tide; in the evening, have a seafood dinner in the village. Overnight stay in Palghar.

Bordi and back
Drive north to Bordi for a morning on its gently sloping beach and a chikoo milkshake, then head back to Mumbai.
